Nominet is the not-for-profit organisation responsible for the running the UK’s Internet infrastructure. With a commitment to public service enshrined in its constitution, it decided to launch knowthenet.org.uk to support Internet users and help them protect themselves online.
As a key element of this campaign, we introduced the concept for a unique web application to generate widespread awareness, boost visitor numbers to the site and keep them there for longer. The ‘ThreatTest’ provided the opportunity for anyone to assess their vulnerability level to online scams, and linked to tailored advice and films in which actors told real-life stories of victims, or ‘scammers’ explained the tricks of their dark trades. It remains a significant driver of traffic to the knowthenet.org.uk site.
